Childcare Assistant Job Description

We are looking for a childcare assistant to assist the childcare teacher at our Family Childcare. The childcare assistant will work with the childcare provider/teacher to conduct daily duties, change diapers, engage in play with the children, assist in putting children to sleep, and create a safe environment. There will be times when the assistant will need to work independently of the childcare provider/teacher.
To be successful as a childcare assistant, you must possess a passion for children and exercise patience with them. You should display a friendly and positive attitude and greet parents and children by their names. Ultimately, you should constantly monitor and supervise the children in your care to ensure their safety.

Childcare Assistant Responsibilities:
• Providing support for the childcare provider/teacher.
• Monitoring and supervising the children constantly.
• Assisting the childcare provider/teacher in maintaining a safe and positive environment.
• Cultivating relationships with children, parents, and guardians.
• Alerting the childcare provider/teacher to emergencies.
• Assist with Serving meals and snacks.
• Greeting parents and addressing children by their name.
• Assisting with sand, water, or playground activities.
• Assisting in laying children down for naps
• Assisting teacher with indoor activities, circle time, painting, arts & crafts singing, and dancing.

Childcare Assistant Requirements:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent is a plus (not required)
• CPR & First Aid Training is a plus (not required upon applying)
• Bilingual is a plus (not required)
